During this interview with Sofia Vergara, Ellen jokingly asks Sofia if after 16 years living in the U.S. she could perhaps lose her accent… Sofia, being a good sport, went along with the joke and proceeded to poke fun at herself… all well and good…

But what annoyed me was…

It took me until I was about 7 or so to work out my Grandmother wasn’t English. I thought she just had an ‘old person’ accent. Of course, once I came to learn more about the world and Italians, it became a source of great amusement to immitate her…. She has lived in England since she was 19, her accent is still strong and, yes, it’s a part of who she is :) I would hate for it to change.
